Brand new day:
a celebration of unity
Virginia Children's Theatre
This August, Kimi performed on her first professional contract as one of three adult lead vocalists in VCT's Brand New Day: A Celebration of Unity, which integrated children's literature and musical theatre favorites to promote themes of unity and love. Kimi was featured in such songs as "My Strongest Suit" (Aida), "Dance with You" (The Prom), "Footloose" (Footloose), "Raise You Up/Just Be" (Kinky Boots), and "Spread the Love Around" (Sister Act). Kimi is a member of BareTroupe, Cal's elite student group dedicated solely to musical theater. For Spring 2022 Showcase, she performed solos in "Therapy" (tick, tick...BOOM!), "Take a Break" (Hamilton), "Up the Ladder to the Roof" (Everyday Rapture), and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" (Anything Goes). Broadway Workshop
Kimi had the pleasure of working with one of her ultimate idols, Sierra Boggess. She received one-on-one coaching with Sierra, learning how to add more personalized nuances to her musical piece, approaching song as an actor.
